These volleyball stars led Roma Volley to the first-ever European trophy

1630 0

We are wondering what would happen if these players stayed together for a few seasons?!

In the season 2007/2008 Roma have decided to gather “Crème de la crème” of volleyball in Italy. This team managed to win the first-ever European trophy – CEV Cup. In the domestic competitions, they reached semifinals of the Italian Serie A1 playoffs and reached finals of the national Cup and Super Cup.

In the starting line-up were these players: Paolo Tofoli (Setter, Italy) – Ivan Miljkovic (opposite, Serbia); Cristian Savani (outside hitter, Italy) – Leonel Marshal (outside hitter, Cuba), Luigi Mastrangelo (middle blocker, Italy) – Witze Kooistra (middle blocker, the Netherlands), libero – Hubert Henno (France). Substitutes: Manuelle Coscione (setter, Italy), Giacomo Giretto (middle blocker, Italy), Andrea Semenzato (middle blocker, Italy), Marco Molteni (outside hitter, Italy), Osvaldo Hernandez (opposite, Cuba), Yasser Romero (libero, Cuba).

Unfortunately, this team stayed together only for one season. However, this team will remain remembered as the squad that won the first ever European trophy for Roma. In the final of the CEV Cup, they defeated Belgian team Noliko Maaseik in straight sets.

Milos Nikic for WoV: “Big thanks to people from Ziraat”

From now on Ziraat is one of my favorite clubs. It is rare today to find a club that is looking after their players even when they are injured. Milos is born champion, and I have no doubt he will play on his level next season. Reply

TUR W: Ognejnovic to replace Nootsara in Fenerbahce!?

Re: @ST Thai opposite like from China and sometimes Japan players are also receivers.
I don't believe buying one of Nootsara's teammates to receive will solve Fenerbahce's reception troubles. IMHO it will probably spark more problems for Fenerbahce as they will probably have less reception coverage and will endanger Fenerbahce to Vakifbank,Eczacibasi and Galatarasay's servers even worse as there is a great doubt Thai receivers are experienced enough in two or three reception system. TUR W: Ognejnovic to replace Nootsara in Fenerbahce!?

Re: @I love Fereira Kim is getting older. Soon her level will drop as she aged. What Fenerbahce needs to do is to find someone younger to compete against Zhu and Tijana and become the next sensation because getting Kim back will not only be expensive but risky for Fenerbahce's finacial health. There's a reason she went to China. The european season is also tough on the body and staying in Turkey might just accelerate the decline so she's being cautious with herself.
