The Argentinean player Leonardo Patti decided to end his professional volleyball career.

At the age of 39 and after 22 years of professional career, Leonardo Patti decided to say goodbye to volleyball.

Patti played most seasons in the history of a national top division Liga Argentina. He competed in 21 editions and won eight trophies with four different clubs: Personal Bolívar (championship in 2004, 2017), Rosario Sonder (ACLAV cup in 2006), UPCN San Juan Vóley (championship in 2011, Master Cup in 2010, 2011, Super 8 in 2011), and La Unión de Formosa (ACLAV cup in 2012).

“My dream is to become a coach of the ‘Selección’ (Argentina national team), I would not consider this step without that possibility. When I started playing I wanted to wear the jersey of Argentina and I did it. Now I want to train in the best way and reach the World Championship or Olympic Game with the national team. But I do not want to do this by leapfrogging. I want to learn, to work and prepare for the moment when I will have that chance. I am 40 years old, spent 22 as a player and I think I can give myself another 22 to face this new career,” Patti stated for Voley Plus.

He collected seven individual awards: Spanish cup Best Outside Hitter once (2003 with PTV Málaga), Liga Argentina MVP once (2004 with Personal Bolívar), ACLAV cup MVP twice (2006 with Rosario Sonder and 2012 with La Unión de Formosa), Liga Argentina Best Outside Hitter twice (2007 with Personal Bolívar and 2010 with UPCN San Juan Vóley), and ACLAV cup Best Outside Hitter once (2009 with Personal Bolívar).

Patti competed at two Olympic Games with Argentina national team.

Next season, Patti will join the staff of Javier Weber in Personal Bolívar, a club in which he spent the last two years.

VNL M: Italy produce 500th official win, Canada heavily shock Brazil, Iran sweep Poland in tension-filled game

During VLN there is only one team which really surprises the audience in all over the world - Japan. They won over Italy, Germany etc.. Although much smaller players then rest of VNL, they have played very good. Moreover there is a phenomenal talent 18 years, 186 cm, Y. Nishida, an opposite position... Vertical jump cca 100 cm.. In past K.Kiraly, 191 cm, jumped cca 90 cm, was similar dynamic player.. However this time TV audience could enjoy volleyball. The Mikasa white ball OG 1984, 1988 was perfect visible and recognizable.
Unfortunately due to of same firm and a wrong FIVB decision, we can not enjoy these matches now... Volleyball reminds a pantomime - without a slow motion replay is almost not possible to watch volleyball since 1998. Compare with the FIFA World Cup 2018 football ball... Such colors and design should be used also in volleyball... Reply
