The Turkish side Maliye Piyango SK Ankara beat Montana Volley from Bulgaria away by a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-14) in the 2nd leg of the 2018 CEV Men’s Challenge Cup – quarterfinals. Since Maliye Piyango prevailed in the first match by the same result, they advanced to the semis, facing the winners of a duel between Bunge Ravenna and Sport Lisboa e Benfica (3-1 in the 1st leg).
The success of Maliye Piyango is huge for the men’s volleyball in their country knowing the fact only Halkbank Ankara (Champions League) and Ziraat Bankası Ankara (CEV Cup) managed to advance to the knockout stage in European cups, besides them, from Turkey.
The Serbian Mihajlo Stanković was the only player with double digits in the winning side as he scored 11 points, of which 7 came from the service line! The Russian youngster Kirill Klets scored one-third of all Montana’s points, 17, including 3 kill blocks.
