Maliye Piyango SK Ankara beat the odds and stamped Bunge Ravenna on the road in the 1st leg of the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League semifinals.

The Turkish side Maliye Piyango played without a pressure against Ravenna and pulled out the best possible outcome from this – a straight-set win against the favorites, partially 25-21, 25-19, 25-23. The rematch is scheduled for March 21.

The Estonian Oliver Venno topped Maliye with 23 points (4 aces, 2 kill blocks). An Austrian Paul Buchegger scored 19 points for Ravenna.

The other semi-final went to the visitors as well. Olympiacos Piraeus swept the Russian Gazprom-Ugra Surgut by a 3-0 with 14 points from Bulgarian Todor Aleksiev. The Serbian Petar Krsmanović scored 12 points for Surgut.

Kim Yeon-Koung for WoV - "I still didn't make any decisions for next season"

The Chinese volleyball fans love her. She is a superstar and a legend. She might not be the first Asian volleyball player to play in Europe, but she certainly gave notice to the world that Asian players can play in their leagues and are just as good and talented as well as great. She opens the doors of the European leagues wider for Asian players. Reply
