The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) remained on the path of the guidelines established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the permission for transgender athletes to compete in official competitions under its jurisdiction.

Medical commission of the FIVB met in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss anti-doping procedures, sports medicine, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through volleyball and transgender athlete participation in the sport. On the meeting, the commission maintained the guidelines established by the IOC when it comes to the participation of transgender athletes.

The FIVB Medical commission emphasized on the issue of allowing transgender athletes to compete, for which they said it is sensitive, that it respects individual choice of a person but also wants to ensure a fair and equitable system of competition for all athletes.

As for national club competitions, it was left to each national federation to set rules for the participation of transgender athletes.

The most famous volleyball case of allowing the transgender player to compete is certainly the case of Tifanny Abreu. After undergoing a sex change, she first took part in an Italian women’s Division 2 last season while now, she is a member of the Brazilian women’s side Vôlei Bauru.

Recall what she said about the fact that some of the former and active volleyball players in Brazil are against her competing in the female competition in an exclusive interview to our website.

TUR W: Ognejnovic to replace Nootsara in Fenerbahce!?

Nootsara can play with Kim Yeon Koung in Shanghai Team for next season. Reply

Is this the most controversial point in 2018 CEV Champions League…? (VIDEO)

It's because at the end of the day: the video challenge system is still HUMAN controlled. Some people are just blind... or biased...

This is just another embarrassment for the sport of volleyball. Even with replay technology, they still somehow manage to mess things up.

And to make things worse, the referee had the nerve to give them a red card for outrage that was LEGITIMATE. Stubborn referee! Even if Lokomotiv will lose the match in the end, I'm sure they would have preferred that loss instead of being cheated out of a point. Reply

If Tomkom is kept for next season (though that seems unlikely in my opinion). Fenerbache should think of getting one of her younger NT member as a receiver/wing spiker back up. Even though they aren't as tall as their European counter part, they can receive well and attack too. I'm sure they would be cheaper to higher than most other European options or are they? lol...And they already have a connection with Nootsara, so maybe they can play some fast balls every now and then to score a few quick points too.
