Novara
Just as Serena Ortolani promised before the semifinals, her team Saugella Team Monza fought until the last point. Calm and play without pressure brought them to the tie-break, but in the end, Novara showed that they are still stronger opponents.
As we mentioned, the match was finished after five amazing sets (27-25, 27-29, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13) although Monza led 2-1 and in the fifth set, they were close to make a surprise.
The finish of the match was quite uncertain. Novara led 12-9, 13-10 and 14-12 when Monza came close 14-13. But at the end, they scored the second ball for 15-13 and 3-2.
Paola Egonu scored 35 points for Novara followed by Celeste Plak 20 points and Cristina Chirichella 17 points while in Monza Serena Ortolani scored 28 points, Edina Begić 18 points and Helena Havelkova 16 points.
After one year break, Novara will play in the final of the Italian Cup and will have a chance once again to face Imoco Volley . Recall that last year Novara suffered defeat from Imoco in the semifinals while in 2014/2015 they beat Imoco in the semis and then won the trophy.
