Sir Safety Conad Perugia mathematically secured top spot (22-2; 66 points) for the playoffs after scoring the 12th win in a row in SuperLega, 18th win in a row including all competitions. This can be counted as the third huge success of the club this season after they already won the national cup and Supercup, all three for the first time ever.

Beginning of the match of Round 24 against No.11 Taiwan Excellence Latina (6-18; 22 points) without two starters, the middle blocker Simone Anzani and American outside hitter Aaron Russell (replaced with Fabio Ricci and Austrian Alexander Berger), proved not to be such a good decision of Perugia coach Lorenzo Bernardi, as Latina gained a 1-0.

But, with the return of Anzani, 18 points from Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević, and 87% attack from Berger (13/15), Perugia blew away rivals, partially 16-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-10. The Serbian Saša Starović scored 15 points for Latina, who remained in the play-out zone (places 11-14).

No.2 Cucine Lube Civitanova (20-4; 59 points), No.3 Azimut Modena (18-6; 55 points), and No.4 Diatec Trentino (17-7; 47 points) notched straight-set wins each.

This club has been like a meteor. Wow. If they can sustain sponsorship they will be great for a long time. Very good coach, great support from fans and a young squad.
