RUS M: U.S. national team libero Erik Shoji returns to play in Russia

The U.S. national team player Erik Shoji returned to play in the Russian men’s volleyball championship Superliga after one season.

Fakel Novy Urengoy announced the hiring of U.S. national team member Erik Shoji. Thus, a 28-year-old libero will return to play Superliga after one season (Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in 2016/17).

Shoji, the 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medalist and one-time FIVB World League and World Cup gold winner, spent the last season in Taiwan Excellence Latina, Italy.

In addition to Denis Getman and Aleksandr Kimerov, whose arrivals were announced earlier, Fakel revealed the names of five more newcomers for the 2018/19: Andrey Ananiev and Ilya Petrushov (both Nova Novokuybyishevsk), Dmitriy Kolenkovskiy (Lokomotiv-Izumrud Ekaterinburg, Division 2), Belarusian Artur Udrys (Guangdong, China), and Andrey Ushkov (youth team).
