No matter the outcome of the 2017/18 Brazilian men’s volleyball championship Superliga playoff semifinals against EMS Taubaté Funvic, and the season in general, Sada Cruzeiro roster will undergo heavy changes for the 2018/19.

Three players will most likely stay in Cruzeiro for one more season: middle blockers Robertlandy Simón (will occupy one of the two places for foreigners) and Isac Santos, and the opposite Rodrigo Leão „Rodriguinho“.

What is nearly 100% certain, Yoandy Leal will leave for Cucine Lube Civitanova, Italy.  Also, it seems Cruzeiro did not reach an agreement on the contract extension with the opposite Evandro Guerra. Now, who might replace them?

The option No.1 one is that Evandro could be replaced with the German Georg Grozer from Belogorie Belgorod, Russia. This means that Leal would be replaced with a domestic player. The option No.2 for Cruzeiro is to move Simón to the opposite position (which he successfully played in Korea) and to hire American Taylor Sander from Lube instead of Leal.

No matter if Grozer or Sander arrive, there will be no more room in the squad the Argentinean setter Nicolás Uriarte due to a maximum number of foreign players. Cruzeiro management, allegedly, projected Fernando Kreling „Cachopa“ to be a starting setter (a backup for Uriarte at the moment), while the experienced Sandro Carvalho from Montes Claros Vôlei would be his backup.

Let’s not forget that Cruzeiro aim to hire Diatec Trentino (Italy) middle blocker Éder Carbonera!

It is going to be a hot summer for Cruzeiro fans...

WCH 2018 W: The MVP award goes to Tijana Boskovic!

I thought the same based on performance in the final match, but then I check the official stats for setters, and Malinov is #1 while Ognjenovic is #6, https://japan2018.fivb.com/en/competition/statistics

However, it is completely ridiculous that Serbia beat Italy twice in World Championship and still 4 players from Italy (2nd place) are in dream team, 2 from China (3rd place) and only 1 from Serbia (1st place) Reply

WCH 2018 W: The MVP award goes to Tijana Boskovic!

What about maja, I think she deserved it more than the other setter, malinov was taken out of the games several times it doesn't make sense. Reply

How to qualify for the Olympic Games 2020 volleyball tournament? One place already guaranteed!

In Women's competition Netherlands (6) will face Italy (7), Mexico (18) and Azerbaijan (19). Very strange to see the numbers 2 and 4 of the WCH in the same poule. Reply
