The hosts Cameroon started the 2020 African Women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifier in Yaoundé with a confident victory against Botswana.

The reigning African champions Cameroon wrecked Botswana at the start of the continental Olympic Qualification Tournament. Despite vying for a place in Tokyo without their best player - the MVP of the 2019 African Nations Championship, Laetitia Moma Bassoko - Cameroon had no problems in the opener, leaving rivals at only 4 points in the 2nd set: 3-0 (25-17, 25-4, 27-25)!

Kenya launched their #RoadToTokyo campaign on the right path, beating Egypt in 4 sets. Kenya are playing the tournament in Yaoundé without their major star Janet Wanja who canceled participation for personal reasons.

2020 African Women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifier – Round 1:

January 5:

Kenya – Egypt 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-22)

Botswana – Cameroon 0-3 (17-25, 4-25, 25-27)
