BRA W: Pinheiros cause major upset, Praia Clube & SESC RJ victorious

Pinheiros have created a surprise for Osasco on the road, in the third round of the women's Brazilian Superliga.


It was the most exciting game of the third round, as both sides pushed to the limits. Of course, Fluminense vs. Barueri clash was also a super interesting five-set game, but this one is in the spotlight.

Pinheiros managed to win the last two sets and to win a game against the favourites, Osasco.

Mari Cassemiro was the top scorer in Pinheiros with 18 points, while her teammates Aline Silva, Peixoto Clarisse and Herrera Alvarez scored 15 each.

In the home team, Destinee Hooker had 18 points, Angela Leyva added 16 points.

The reigning champions Praia Clube have scored the fourth win in the Brazilian Superliga to keep the top position in the standings. Sesc RJ also were at a high level on the road against Sao Caetano.

Osasco – Pinheiros 2-3 (25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 18-25, 9-15)

Brasilia Volei – Praia Clube 0-3 (17-25, 13-25, 18-25)

Curitiba – Balneario 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20)

Fluminense – Barueri 2-3 (25-20, 25-22, 17-25, 18-25, 9-15)

Sao Caetano – SESC RJ 0-3 (21-25, 17-25, 22-25)

Sesi Bauru – Minas 1-3 (16-25, 18-25, 25-15, 22-25)
