In the confrontation that lasted for nearly three hours (!) and was the Paulista classic (a derby of the state of São Paulo), the fourth seed Hinode Barueri prevailed over No.5 Osasco Voleibol Clube/Audax in the tie-break, partially 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 16-14, and went ahead in the quarterfinals by a 1-0.

Pole Katarzyna Skowrońska was the main weapon for Barueri, finishing the match with 26 points. A 19-year-old Tainara Santos was the gamechanger for Barueri as she came in the second set to pour in 18 points. Thaísa Menezes made five kill blocks. In Osasco, a foreign duo Destinee Hooker – Ángela Leyva scored 20 points apiece. Veteran middle blocker Walewska Oliveira made six kill blocks while libero Camila Brait had 81% positive reception. Osasco served as much as 14 aces as a team.

Thanks to 20 points from Tifanny Abreu, the sixth seed SESI Vôlei Bauru made a major upset by beating No.3 SESC RJ by a 3-1.
