Romania edged past Slovenia in the rematch of the 2019 CEV Women’s Volleyball European Silver League final to win the tournament.

In front of own crowd in Alexandria, Romania redeemed for a 3-1 loss in the first leg on the road and swept Slovenia in the rematch of the 2019 CEV European Silver League final: 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-17), Golden Set 15-12.

As an award for winning the tournament, Romania earned a promotion to the 2020 CEV European Golden League (will replace Sweden) that serves as the first step towards advancing to the 2021 FIVB Nations League. Romania finished the Preliminary Round as Pool A leaders with a 5-1 record and 16 points. Slovenia were at the top of Pool B with the same win-loss ratio and 15 points.

Slovenia missed a huge opportunity in the Golden Set in the rematch knowing that they led by 8-5.

Adelina Budăi-Ungureanu was Romania’s most prolific player with 21 points. Ioana Francesca Alupei made 4 kill blocks. Lana Ščuka and Darja Eržen scored 10 points apiece for Slovenia. Tina Grudina set up 4 kill blocks.
