The European Volleyball Confederation decided it was time to cut the things.

The CEV annulled all of its previous decisions to postpone and reschedule matches due to coronavirus outbreak with the newest decision, which is radical. But it was an expected move of the governing body of volleyball in Europe.

“Further to the escalation of the coronavirus outbreak across Europe and the latest measures adopted by national and European authorities to fight against the pandemic, the CEV Board of Administration has decided to postpone all CEV events until April 3, 2020,” CEV published on its website.

The only exception to this decision is the face-off between Russian rivals Lokomotiv Novosibirsk and Zenit Saint Petersburg in the semifinals of the 2020 Men’s CEV Cup (March 19 and March 26). That’s because these matches involve two clubs from the same country.

The CEV stressed that it has been “monitoring the development of the COVID-19 epidemic since the very beginning of the outbreak and stresses once more its full commitment to protecting the health and safety of all athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.”

Recall that the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) postponed the 2020 Volleyball Nations League for after the Tokyo Olympics.
