The last vacant spot in the eighth-finals of the 2021 Men’s Volleyball CEV Cup is filled with C.S.M. Arcada Galaţi.

Romania’s C.S.M.Arcada Galaţi qualified for the eighth-finals of the Men’s CEV Cup, even though they suffered a defeat from Bulgaria’s Montana Volley in the rematch of the 16th finals of the competition, away, in five sets. The advantage from the first match (3-0) helped Arcada to pass to the next round.

Montana (Russian Maksim Sapozhkov 25 points, Radoslav Popov 4 aces, Stefan Chavdarov 4 blocks) were close to pushing today’s match today to the golden set given they had 2-1. The final score was 25-18, 16-25, 25-20, 21-25, and 15-9 after 103 minutes of play. In the 1/8 finals, Arcada will face Dutch team Amysoft Lycurgus Groningen in Moscow, Russia, as these two teams were assigned to Group 1.

FIVB, change the rule, please!

I agree with coach Kolakovic and the justifications he brings for changing this particular rule. I am convinced that most referees share his opinion too. Reply

Re: @Sorah
That is very stupid too, indeed. If we do a simple analysis we can find a lot of other very stupid things. Another one is uselessly continuing the set when the score difference is 10 points. Who has recovered from that? (I mean in the senior games, not in the underage games.)

Re: @Sorin Acela
The most stupid rule is each set has 25 points and teams only play serious game from point 15-16.
If sets had 15 or 11 points, they cared from first point, and didn't cause spectators to sleep. Reply
