The playoff quarterfinals of the 2021 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League began in the best possible way for the Italian teams: Igor Gorgonzola Novara beat Fenerbahçe Opet İstanbul on the road in the first leg.

Beating Turkey’s Fenerbahçe by a 3-1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 27-25), Italy’s Novara took an important step towards qualification to the Final Four of the 2021 Women’s Champions League. The team coached by Stefano Lavarini wasn’t discouraged after a poor start (25-19 in the first set). Novara also canceled 2 set points in the 4th set and avoided a tie-break.

Caterina Chiara Bosetti was the top scorer on the winning side with 18 points. American Haleigh Washington and Cristina Chirichella dominated in the block with 6 and 5 points earned in this segment, respectively. Cuban Melissa Vargas stood out for Fenerbahçe with 29 points. The return match is scheduled for March 3 in Itala.

RUS M: Possible "transfer bomb" - Zenit St. Petersburg wants Wilfredo Leon!?

I don’t know. I like Perugia but Leon is not coming to his full potential. If has to play another year with Travica and/or Oleh then he can better leave the club. Aleksander is already leaving the club and that is horrible for SIR but yet again if he wants to play and live in Perugia than that’s it. But if he wants te achieve bigger thing Ian live with volleyball than he should leave. Reply
