WCH 2018 M: USA claim Final Six spot, France beat reigning World Champions

The USA have claimed the spot at the Final Six of the FIVB Men's World Championship by beating the co-host Bulgaria in straight sets!

 

A domination of the U.S. national team has continued today by defeating Bulgaria and scoring the seventh win so far at the World Champs, without suffering any defeat!

Aaron Russell was the best scorer with 18 points, while Taylor Sander added 12 and Matt Anderson 11.

France have also scored an important victory, to keep the hopes for the World Championship Final six. They have downed the reigning champions Poland in four sets 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18!

Earvin Ngapeth played one of the best games in the tournament, finishing the game with 26 points. Artur Szalpuk was the best scorer on the other side.

World Championship, second round, day 2:

Pool E:

Netherlands – Finland 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 25-13)

Russia – Italy 21:15 CET

Standings: Italy 6-0 (18), Netherlands 5-2 (14 points), Russia 4-2 (13), Finland 2-5 (6)

Pool F:

Australia – Belgium 0-3 (26-28, 26-28, 20-25)

Slovenia – Brazil 0-3 (22-25, 21-25, 16-25)

Standings: Brazil 6-1 (17), Belgium 4-3 (13), Slovenia 4-3 (12), Australia 2-5 (7)

Pool G:

Iran – Canada 2-3 (20-25, 25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 12-15)

Bulgaria – USA 0-3 (20-25, 20-25, 18-25)

Standings: USA 7-0 (19), Bulgaria 4-3 (12), Iran 4-3 (12), Canada 4-3 (11)

Pool H:

Serbia – Argentina 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22)

Poland – France 1-3 (15-25, 18-25, 25-23, 18-25)

Lube again wins the serve /passing battle, which they live by in this matchup.
Trentino looks fragile and unsure. Russell is not swinging with confidence, Kovacevic passing is off and serve is not there. Gianelli's location missed numerous times
Why is Vetorri EVER pulled for a significant less player in Nelli? That the Trentino coach cannot do again. All this and yet Trentino still could have won match 1 and pushed last night to 5.
Trentino will correct their mistakes and gain momentum on Monday at home and push this series to a 5th match. Lube will tire. Reply
