WCH 2018 M: One more step - The reigning champions Poland beat USA to claim the final!

The reigning champions Poland are one step away from defending the title they won in 2014!

After an amazing battle in the semifinals, Poland have booked the ticket for the final where they will mee the same rival as in 2014 - Brazil! It will be a remake of the final and that shows how serious these two countries work when we talk about volleyball.

Vital Heynen has come to lead this generation to one more medal. They have the silver in their pocket, but we are pretty much sure that the Polish team will consider the silver as a failure...

What happened in this game? Bartosz Kurek and Michal Kubiak happened. These two guys led the reigning champions to the finals, having amazing performances. Simply, the U.S. team didn't have any solution for them. Kurek ended the game with 29 points, while Kubiak added 22.

Even though the USA had a 2-1 lead, they didn't manage to keep it. In the tie-break, they were trailing 10-3, but thanks to Daniell McDonnell they decreased the lead of the rival to 11-9! However, Kurek ended the scoring run of the USA which created a huge opportunity for Poland to finish the game.

Anderson (19), Sander (19) and Russell (18) were the best scorers in John Speraw's team...

Brazil - Serbia 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-22)

Poland - USA 3-2 (25-22, 20-25. 23-25, 25-20, 15-11)

FRA M: Ngapeth has a question for the FIVB

Organisation of OG Qualification in Poland reminds me WCh2014 as far as a timetable, referees.. It is enough to compare all schedules of home NT with other qualification groups.. Poland NT is probably currently the strongest NT in men volleyball in the world, and it does not need any such a trick... Of course, it indicates also the role of FIVB, which is orientated mainly on a profit... Reply

FRA M: Ngapeth has a question for the FIVB

um...did he protest as loudly during Italian tournaments in the past? really, if Poland was playing this tournament in France, we would have as unreasonable schedule as they had and, we too, would complain, but what does it matter? FIVB accepted the schedule, so Ngapeth can only blame his own federation for not fighting for this tournament's organization rights more. Reply
