WCH 2018 W: Russia without injured Goncharova smashed Turkey, Serbia outplayed Mexico

The second round at the FIVB World Championship has started and it’s time to see which teams will move to the next stage when they will decide who will play for the medals.

In the first match of the day, Russia crushed Turkey in impressive three sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-16) without Nataliya Goncharova who has the shoulder injury. 

Kseniia Parubets and Irina Voronkova led the Russian team with 14 points each while Irina Fetisova scored 13 points with six blocks. Russia notched 11 block points.

For Turkey, Hande Baladin replied with 11 points and captain Eda Erdem added 8 points.

In Pool E, Serbia opened play in the second round of the FIVB Women’s World Championship with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-15) victory over Mexico.

Tijana Boskovic led her team with 11 points followed by Brankica Mihajlovic who scored 10 points. On the Mexican side, Andrea Rangel scored 14 points while Samantha Bricio 8 points.

Serbia – Mexico 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-15)

Brazil – Germany 04:25 (06:25 CET)

The Netherlands – Puerto Rico 07:10 (09:10 CET)

Japan – Dominican Republic 10:20 (12:20 CET)

Russia – Turkey 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-16)

USA – Bulgaria 04:25 (06:25 CET)

Italy – Azerbaijan 07:10 (09:10 CET)

China – Thailand 10:20 (12:20 CET)
