Igor Gorgonzola Novara have secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship in Shaoxing, China.

The European champions Igor Gorgonzola Novara risked a lot by allowing the reigning Club World Championship titleholders VakıfBank Istanbul to return from a two-set deficit in Round 2 of this year’s edition of a tournament but eventually recorded a win: 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 25-27, 24-26, 15-12). Serbian opposite hitter Jovana Brakočević chipped in with 30 points for Novara, while American Micha Hancock served 5 aces. The Swede Isabelle Haak scored 29 points for VakıfBank, while Zehra Güneş made 7 of the team’s 18 kill blocks.

Re: @Petar
She quit the national team to spend more time with her son if I remember correctly. It was never an issue of quality, she is still a top player.

Re: @1 Correct, and more importantly, Boskovic, the best opposite in a world plays for Serbia. Hence Brakocevic decided to quit national team instead of sitting on the bench

Zhu Ting hurt her wrist and went out of the match leading 2-0. She is not expected to play the next match vs VakifBank.

'The IRIVF has unofficially set the goal of winning a medal in the next year’s Tokyo Olympics'
It sounds unreal or at least very hard to set as a main target keeping in mind there are teams like Brazil, Poland, USA, Russia or France that are considered better and more entitled than Iran. Just my opinion. Reply

POL M: Wilfredo Leon – “It would be dangerous to play in front of the fans…”

Wilfredo Leon - a big respect for such a statement... Very rare, reasonable and sober opinion in this complicated, pandemic situation.. He thinks on older, and vulnarable persons.... I expect that also other top world athletes, coaches, officials will join such a proclamation... But it is not enough without specifying and keeping complex, preventive, epidemiological measures on volleyball courts, halls ... Better not comment what we could still observe on them.. Reply
