Yoandy Leal posted a quite interesting status on Instagram in which it was visible he was displeased because the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) didn’t award him for the MVP of the 2019 Club World Championship, so his teammate Bruno Rezende “Bruninho” had to do instead it of them.

Bruninho’s gesture of handing the award for the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 Club World Championship to a teammate Leal, after he previously refused to accept it, was a gesture of pure sportsmanship. The Cuban-born player expressed his gratitude to the Brazilian setter on Instagram.

“The merit is often unrecognized, but I keep doing my best because an award doesn’t erase everything I’ve done so far in my career. Thank you Bruninho for acknowledging my performance in this championship since FIVB didn’t recognize it. I’m very happy for contributing to the first world title of Lube. Thank you to everyone who cheered for us!” Leal posted.

Bruninho didn’t want to comment on his gesture but couldn’t hide happiness of winning the title for the best club in the world with Cucine Lube Civitanova.

“It’s a special victory. This team was brave. In times of pressure, it remained united and deserved to raise the trophy. It was the only one that I still missed, so I thank my teammates and also those of the past for helping me win everything I have won over the years,” Best Setter of the tournament stated.

FIVB releases COVID-19 guidelines for restart of volleyball activities

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.
