The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) reacted to numerous media writings about the alleged new rule concerning the changing of the sports nationality.

Our website was among many media that transferred the words of the President of the Belarussian federation, Eduard Venskiy, who clarified new regulation/guidelines of the FIVB in regard to the possibility of changing the sports nationality. The governing body of world volleyball explicitly denied introducing anything similar to that.

“The FIVB wishes to clarify that the regulations relating to the determination and change of players’ native federation are currently the same. The players’ native federation is determined by their first volleyball registration. The FIVB constantly examines its regulatory framework, including the rules relating to the players’ federation change. In the event that the FIVB Board of Directors approves the changes to the regulations, the FIVB will communicate them to its member federations and provide a version, which details any changes, on its website,” Gian Luca Pasini published the FIVB’s note in his blog.

FIVB releases COVID-19 guidelines for restart of volleyball activities

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.
