The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) released the results of the work on developing COVID-19 guidelines for a safe restart of volleyball activities.

The FIVB Medical Commission worked in a previous period on developing guidelines with the aim to help continental confederations, national federations, and national leagues create a safe environment to restart volleyball activities and now has published the result.

The FIVB stressed that these guidelines aren’t intended to replace guidelines of local health authorities but to rigorous planning in cooperation with them prior to and during events, especially in regard to considering the presence of the audience. This includes reviewing the necessary social distancing protocols at competition venues and training facilities and implementing strict sanitization measures, both in venues and on the court. At the same time, teams are advised to establish a consistent COVID-19 testing plan and minimize physical contact between rallies.

As for other guidelines, they are related to officials to secure sanitizing balls between rallies, an adequate distance of rival teams when changing sides, to eliminate the handshake of players before and after matches, etc.

Check out all COVID-19 safety guidelines developed by the FIVB.

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.

CHN M: Chinese federation gives in to pressure, male foreigners will play Super League

Great news on the Men's Super League. The Women's you referred to in the news is actually not the same with the Super League though. It is a separate tournament roughly called National Championships where the provincial teams compete for the top honour. Women's Super League won't start until much later. If foreign players are allowed in Men's tournament, then it only.makes sense the same would apply to the women's. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed! Reply
