Tours vs. Paris
When Paris won the super exciting set 2 and went 2-0 in front it seemed that the trophy would get back to the capital after 6 years… But, then Tours performed a comeback which will forever stay written in the history of this competition.
The reigning champions stormed through the third set, decreasing the margin to 2-1… The fourth set was perhaps the crucial one. Paris had two championship points – 24:23 and 25:24… Two chances to seize the title. But, Tours saved both of them and then used its fifth set ball to tie the overall score at 2-2 in sets!
The tie break started with the lead of Paris by 3-2, but then Tours scored five points in a row and escaped to 7:3! The reigning champions were in a great momentum and kept increasing the lead to 10:5, 11:5, 14:6… Tours used its very first championship point and defended the title!
This is the 6th championship title for Tours, and 4th in a row!
