GER W: Schwerin come back in final series against Stuttgart - again

SSC Palmberg Schwerin emerged victoriously from Game 4 of the 2018/19 German Women’s Volleyball Championship playoff finals against Allianz MTV Stuttgart to stay alive in the title fight.

 

The players of the second seed Schwerin knew that there was a lot at stake as they were 2-1 behind in the series of the 2018/19 1. Bundesliga Frauen playoff finals against the top seed Stuttgart. The players coached by Felix Koslowski scored a straight-set win, partially 25-15, 25-18, 25-16, tying the series for the second time and preventing rivals to claim the title tonight.

Unfortunately for Stuttgart, their starting outside hitter Julia Schaefer got injured in the second set and was unable to continue the match.

Jennifer Geerties top-scored for Schwerin with 14 points. American Lauren Barfield made 80% attack (8/10).

The fifth and also a decisive game for the Bundesliga title will be played on Saturday, May 11.

She quit the national team to spend more time with her son if I remember correctly. It was never an issue of quality, she is still a top player. Reply

Zhu Ting hurt her wrist and went out of the match leading 2-0. She is not expected to play the next match vs VakifBank. Reply
