ITA W: Egonu’s one-woman show helps Novara level semifinal series against Scandicci

The second seed Igor Gorgonzola Novara leveled the 2018/19 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship playoff semifinals against No.3 seed Savino Del Bene Scandicci at 1-1.

Novara won Game 2 of the 2018/19 Samsung Volley Cup A1 semifinals against Scandicci in four sets to bring the balance back to the series. Novara came back from six points down in the opening set (15-21) which gave them just enough self-confidence for the rest of the match: 27-25, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-19.

Paola Egonu put down 33 points for Novara who had a notable team’s effort in reception (73% positive) with veteran Francesca Piccinini making 79% in this segment (19 total, one error, 47% perfect). The Swedish youngster Isabelle Haak scored 20 points for Scandicci while libero Enrica Merlo made 80% positive reception (15 total, two errors, 53% perfect).
