ITA W: This is Italy’s roster for the Olympic qualifiers

In their quest to secure a presence in Tokyo 2020, the Italian women's national team will have maximum strength for the Pre-Olympic tournament.

 

With no big surprise, coach Davide Mazzanti has announced the 16-player squad for the matches between August 2 and 4 against the Netherlands, Belgium and Kenya.

The world volleyball star Paola Egonu will lead the Italian team in this tournament.

Check out the list:

Setters: Alessia Orro, Ofelia Malinov, Carlotta Cambi

Opposites: Paola Egonu, Indre Sorokaite

Middle blockers: Cristina Chirichella, Anna Danesi, Sarah Fahr, Raphaela Folie

Outside hitters: Lucia Bosetti, Elena Pietrini, Miriam Sylla, Caterina Bosetti, Sylvia Nwakalor

Líberos: Monica De Gennaro, Beatrice Parrocchiale

For the first time in history, Italy won’t participate in VNL

Well Sports Fans, the reality is that Italy won't be alone and you can bet more Federations will do the same as this worlwide pandemic evolves. Summer sports for all will not be happening and I can forsee European Leagues holding off until late October and November. Budgets for all clubs and federations are in a holding pattern until we get a better grip on this virus. Its actually a smart decision by the Italians. Hopefully the Atheltes use this time to rest and strengthen their bodies Reply
