OQT W: Mazzanti announces Italy’s 14-player list for Tokyo Qualifier

Italy will host one of the 6 tournaments of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball International Qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (August 1-4) in Catania.

 

Pool F of the International Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics should probably be the most competitive of all 6 pools, knowing that it will have the hosts Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Kenya in it.

Italy head coach Davide Mazzanti has chosen 14 players for the tournament in Catania:

Setters: Alessia Orro, Ofelia Malinov

Opposite hitter: Paola Egonu

Middle blockers: Cristina Chirichella, Anna Danesi, Sarah Fahr, Raphaela Foli

Outside hitters: Lucia Bosetti, Elena Pietrini, Indre Sorokaite, Miriam Sylla, Sylvia Nwakalor

Liberos: Monica De Gennaro, Beatrice Parrocchiale

FIVB Women’s Volleyball International Qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics - tournaments:

Pool A (Wrocław, Poland): Serbia, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Poland.

Pool B (Ningbo, China): China, Turkey, Germany, Czech Republic.

Pool C (Shreveport, USA): USA, Argentina, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan.

Pool D (Uberlândia, Brazil): Brazil, Dominican Republic, Cameroon, Azerbaijan.

Pool E (Kaliningrad, Russia): Russia, Korea, Canada, Mexico.

Pool F (Catania, Italy): Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Kenya.

ITA M: De Cecco has contract with Lube in his hands, Bruno going in opposite direction?

Not sure this is a smart move on Lube's part. De Cocco is not the level of Bruno, Christenson and Giannelli. Maybe they should outside of Italy for great setter since they forced Christenson out who just signed a 3-year extension with Modena, and Giannelly is not leaving Trentino. Reply
