The reigning champions Lube Civitanova have opened the new season of the Serie A1 with a 3-0 win over Piazenca.

Even though the game ended in three sets, it was a very difficult game for the team of Ferdinando de Giorgi. The first two sets were very uncertain and fortunately for the home fans, Lube won them and later won the game.

Simon Robertlandy (13 points) and Yoandy Leal (11) were the best scorers of the game for Lube, while ex Trentino's opposite Gabriele Nelli had 22 on the other side.

Last season's finalist Perugia had to play a five-set game at the start of the season. Latina gave a huge resistance, however, Perugia managed to win the game somehow.

Three players in Perugia scored the same number of points each (16) - Ricci, Lanza and Atanasijevic. Wilfredo Leon had 15, while Marko Podrascanin scored 14.

In Latina, Jean Patry scored 22 points, Maarten Van Garderen added 20.

Kleme Cebulj was the best scorer in Trentino's win over Ravenna, finishing the game with 16 points. However, the best scorer of the game was Ravenna's member Thijs Ter Horst.

The Italian star Ivan Zaytsev created the victory for Modena at the start of the season. He scored 16 points in his team's win over Padova.

The French national team member Stephen Boyer had a good game against Sora, finishing the match with 21 points. Verona won this game in straight sets.

POL M: Young Australian coach Reynolds will command Jastrzębski next season

Many Strength and Conditioning Coaches/Scoutman are trying to get into coaching. Due to their lack of experience and knowledge, at first, they take a major pay cut in comparison to actual volleyball coaches. Currently, coaching jobs are paying very little, even in the top leagues, and some of the experienced coaches are not taking jobs for 25.000-40.000 EUR, knowing that demands are just as high as before when they were making double of this salary. Unfortunately, club leaderships see coaches as a disposable matter and therefore keep dropping salaries because there are candidates that will take these jobs. I am not here to judge, just to describe some of the dynamics around this profession. Reply

POL M: Young Australian coach Reynolds will command Jastrzębski next season

Interesting trend, that some coaches who specialised on physical training, some who never played volleyball on top level, became pretty successful volleyball coaches. It can be observed in some menś and women teams. It reflects a situation that volleyball has become a very physical sport. Even the world champion country, which in past had taught others, needs coaches from abroad who come into this category. Reply
