Saugella Team Monza made a huge upset in Round 8 of the 2019/20 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Saugella Team Monza’s winning streak prolonged to three games despite playing European champions Igor Gorgonzola Novara on the road in Round 8 of the 2019/20 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile regular season: 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21)! For the first time this season, Novara head coach Massimo Barbolini had all players from the roster at the disposal. After Serbian opposite hitter Jovana Brakočević Canzian recovered earlier, the American outside hitter Megan Courtney has finally returned from an injury and took her place in the line-up. However, it didn’t help Novara, who are at the No.4 with 6-3 and 17 points after today’s shocking loss. German Hanna Orthmann and Dutchwpman Floortje Meijners scored 16 points apiece for Monza, while Beatrice Parrocchiale made 73% reception (22 digs, 50% perfect). Brakočević Canzian tallied 14 points for Novara.

In the match between the two 2020 CEV Champions League pool stage participants, Imoco Volley Conegliano prevailed over Savino Del Bene Scandicci, who obviously failed to recover from an exhausting five-setter against Turkish VakıfBank, which was played four days ago. Scandicci resisted only in the first set, “disappearing“ from the game in the second and third a 3-0 (25-23, 25-10, 25-15). Paola Egonu led Imoco, who are at the top of the charts (9-0), with 19 points (70% attack, 16/23).

ITA M: Trentino secure signature of 3-time consecutive SuperLega top scorer Abdel-Aziz!

One of the best opposite hitters in the world right now. Trentino will have a hell of the power when it comes to finish the ball but will definetely struggle to receive it. Both Lucarelli and Kooy are easy targets to aim and were usually hidden behind a libero. Still seems like there will be top 3 clubs in Italy next season: Lube, Perugia, Trentino. Modena will be weaker for sure and will struggle to be in the top 6 and Piacenza may make a surprise. Reply

ITA M: Trentino sign newly proclaimed Italy National Team member Kooy

Dick Kooy is a really solid player who has been very consistent in his pro career. Gaining him and Rossini are very very good Italian additions. That being said the loss of Grebennikov, Russell and Kovacevic will be significant.
Ultimately I will cheer for a healthy uninterrupted A1 season....fans or no fans....We need to play volleyball!!! Reply
