Calzedonia Verona stunned one of the major title favorites Leo Shoes Modena on the road in Round 11 of the 2019/20 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Bulgarian expert at the helm of Verona, Radostin Stoytchev, took some sort of revenge on Modena for the controversial dismissal in the spring of 2018. His team inflicted the first home defeat to Modena this season. The match was valid for Round 11 of the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season and lasted very long, for two hours and 32 minutes, with Verona being ahead of two sets and with Modena bringing the match to the tie-break. For the first time since 2018, Stoytchev has returned to Palapanini as an opponent. At the end of the 2017/18 season, his collaboration with Modena ended in a bad way and now seeks for the resolution in the courtrooms. The Bulgarian was booed by more than 4,500 spectators in the hall. The Frenchman Stéphen Boyer tallied 31 points for Verona, including 5 aces, while Enrico Cester made 6 kill blocks. Ivan Zaytsev scored 28 points for Modena, while American Maxwell Holt made 81% attack (13/16).

The Dutch bomber from Allianz Milano, Nimir Abdel-Aziz, staged a surreal display in the match against Gas Sales Piacenza. He chipped in with 41 points! The opposite hitter had as many as 60 kills and finished the encounter with a 60% attack success rate (36/60).

FIVB releases COVID-19 guidelines for restart of volleyball activities

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.
