The regular season vice-champions Cucine Lube Civitanova accomplished the mission. After prevailing in Game 1 of the playoff quarterfinals of the 2020/21 Italian Men’s SuperLega Credem Banca at home, the team commanded by Gianlorenzo Blengini beat 7th-seed Leo Shoes Modena on the road, as well, and eliminated them from the competition.

The reaction of Modena to a defeat in the first match led to the victory in the first set, but from then onwards, the titleholders took the initiative and, despite the absences of Luciano De Cecco and Yoandy Leal (positive to Covid-19), got to 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22). Luxembourger Kamil Rychlicki top-scored the winning side with 19 points. Cuban Robertlandy Simón set up 5 blocks and had 83 % attack (10/12).

The path of Lube in the playoffs will continue against the first team who secured a place in the semis, Itas Trentino (series starts on March 28).
