Polish head coach Piotr Makowski: “We are looking forward to a very important duel with Italy. We must be ready to fight. It is a 50-50 situation.”

Czech Republic’s head coach Carlo Parisi: “We are proud to have finished second in a very tough pool. It is now important to recover from Sunday’s hard match and then quickly focus on the French team. We’ll need all our energy and power against a young and promising team from France.”

Serbian head coach Zoran Terzić: “We are happy to have finished first in a strong group. After our loss versus Bulgaria on the first competition day, we improved our game. Now, the race starts again. It is an all-or-nothing situation. I believe in my team.”

Belgian head coach Gert Vande Broek: “We were quite surprised after the match against Italy. However, we are thankful for an additional rest day, but need to stay in rhythm. I’m looking forward to a new challenge in the quarterfinals.”

Italian head coach Marco Mencarelli: “Looking back at the first part of EuroVolley 2013 is like looking back at the whole summer. We experienced many ups and downs. Nevertheless, I’m sure my team finds good solutions to rise again.”

French head coach Fabrice Vial: “It will be a different situation for us in the playoff round. We will play without pressure. However, the Czechs are a strong team. We’ll have to show our best game.”
