POL W: Both teams from Łódź advance to playoff semifinals

The city of Łódź will have two teams in the 2018/19 Polish Women’s Volleyball League playoff semifinals.

 

Both teams from Łódź who have qualified for the Liga Siatkówki Kobiet 2018/2019 playoff quarterfinals advanced to the next round.

The third seed ŁKS Commercecon Łódź lost the opening set to No.6 BKS PROFI CREDIT Bielsko-Biała before converting the next three for a win in Game 2, partially 23-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-21. Thus, ŁKS won the series by a 2-0 and will face second-seed Developres SkyRes Rzeszów (secured an automatic qualification) in the semis. Brazilian Regiane Bidias scored 16 points for the winning side while Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska set up eight kill blocks! Olivia Różański noted 16 points for Bielsko-Biała.

By creating another straight-set victory over fifth seed Bank Pocztowy Pałac Bydgoszcz, No.4 Grot Budowlani Łódź moved into the semis. The Serbian opposite Jovana Brakočević-Canzian confirmed her status of the Liga Siatkówki Kobiet regular season best scorer, pouring in 18 points for Budowlani. Ewelina Krzywicka scored 12 for the losing side.

(5) Bank Pocztowy Pałac Bydgoszcz – (4) Grot Budowlani Łódź 0-3 (15-25, 21-25, 23, 25), series 0-2

RUS W: Despite renewing with Dinamo Moscow, Ognjenović will join VakıfBank

Wow! Ognjenović had some heated clashes with the Vakifbank coach on court while she was playing for EcZ. I have seen in one video that she was screaming at him. Ognjenović is fiery and the captain of the National Serbia team and is considered one of the best setters (and smart) in the world. I like this move. The current setter for Vakifbank makes bad decisions(and poor sets) at bad times that caused them. Reply
