POL M: 2018 World Championship Best Middle Blocker Nowakowski joins Onico

A two-time FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship winner Piotr Nowakowski has signed a contract with ONICO Warszawa.

 

Piotr Nowakowski, the middle blocker of Poland national team, will defend the colors of ONICO Warszawa in the next two seasons.

A 31-year-old player made his debut in Plus Liga in 2006, playing for Tauron AZS Częstochowa for five seasons and winning the Polish Cup. His next stop in the club career was Asseco Resovia Rzeszów whose jersey he has worn for six years, winning the Polish Championship three times. From 2017, he competed with Trefl Gdańsk, claiming the Polish Cup.

Nowakowski made his first appearance for Poland national team in 2008. A year later he won the CEV European Championship and in the FIVB World League in 2012. He was also a two-time FIVB World Championship winner (2014 and 2018) and a two-time participant in the Olympic Games (2012, 2016).

Individually, he has been chosen Best Middle Blocker of the last year’s FIVB World Championship as well as in the CEV Champions League and Polish Championship once each.

FIVB releases COVID-19 guidelines for restart of volleyball activities

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.
