A few teams have concluded their campaign in the regular season of the 2020/21 Russian Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Zenit-Kazan earned their 11th consecutive victory in all competitions, the 6th consecutive victory in the 2020/21 Russian Men’s Superliga Parimatch regular season.

In a delayed match of Round 25, the Tatarstan giants (Maksim Mikhaylov 17 points, Artem Volvich 4 blocks) swept ASK and concluded their campaign in the regular season. Zenit-Kazan are currently 2nd in the charts, which is the last position that guarantees the direct passage to the Final Six. However, given that 3rd placed Kuzbass have the same number of wins as Zenit-Kazan (19), just one point fewer (53) and 3 more matches to play, it is hardly likely that a team coached by Vladimir Alekno will retain the current ranking. What is certain is that Zenit-Kazan definitely won’t fall below the 3rd position, regardless of the results of the remaining matches of other teams.

The 4th-placed Zenit Saint Petersburg and 5th-placed Fakel both scored victories today. It means that the last match they are about to play against their respective rivals will decide if they will keep these rankings. Both teams have 17 wins but Zenit St. Petersburg have one point more (52).

2020/21 Russian Men’s Superliga Parimatch regular season – Round 25:

March 4:

Kuzbass – Dinamo-LO 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19)

ITA M: Perugia focused on bringing Grbić

He signed a 2-years contract with Zaksa last year. He won Polish Cup with them, not sure what happened so Zaksa lost the championship. They kicked out Lube and Zenit from the Champions League and have a good chance of becoming European champion although Trentino didn't win anything this year so this is their last chance.
He started his coaching career with Perugia so everything is possible... Reply

USA M: Russell undergoes surgery in US, will miss Tokyo Olympics

Russell had one of the best sports surgeons in the world work on him so I expect he will be in great hands. While devastating for any athlete Russell is young enough to have both Paris and Los Angeles in his Olympic future at very high level.
Piacenza is building something very special there and Russell is a perfect type of player and professional to attract others to come there and build around.
Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. Reply
