TUR M: Arkas record 20 kill blocks as a team vs. Galatasaray in Game 2 to advance to finals

For the second year in a row, Arkas Spor will contest in the Turkish men’s volleyball championship Efeler Ligi playoff finals.

 

No.2 Arkas Spor kicked out No.6 Galatasaray HDI Sigorta from the 2017-2018 Efeler Ligi semifinal with a 2-0 in the series (3-1 in Game 2) to play the finals for the second straight year.

Once again, the youngster Adis Lagumdžija topped Arkas. He scored 21 points in Game 2 (3 aces, 2 kill blocks). Speaking of kill blocks, Arkas recorded 20 as a team! Mustafa Koç stood out with 7 kill blocks. He added 75% attack (9/12, blocked once). The German Christian Fromm made 75% reception (12 digs, 75% perfect). It is noteworthy that Arkas played the entire series without their best scorer in the regular season, The Cuban Michael Sánchez Bozhulev, who performed as a backup.

The Ugandian Daudi Okello scored 19 points for Galatasaray. Emin Gök contributed with 5 kill blocks, while Can Ayvazoğlu recorded 80% reception (20 digs, 2 errors, 65% perfect).

No.1 Halkbank and No.5 İstanbul BBSK will play Game 2 tomorrow, on March 25. Halkbank lead by a 1-0 in the series.

Organisation of OG Qualification in Poland reminds me WCh2014 as far as a timetable, referees.. It is enough to compare all schedules of home NT with other qualification groups.. Poland NT is probably currently the strongest NT in men volleyball in the world, and it does not need any such a trick... Of course, it indicates also the role of FIVB, which is orientated mainly on a profit... Reply

um...did he protest as loudly during Italian tournaments in the past? really, if Poland was playing this tournament in France, we would have as unreasonable schedule as they had and, we too, would complain, but what does it matter? FIVB accepted the schedule, so Ngapeth can only blame his own federation for not fighting for this tournament's organization rights more. Reply
