On the first day of the competition hosts Myanmar, cheered by over 1,500 spectators at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, had a brilliant start, they defeated Maseco TPHCM of Vietnam in straight sets 25-17 25-20 25-21 in Pool A.
In Pool C, Al Arabi from Qatar, silver medalists at the last year’s competition, showed no mercy to Wing 46 Phitsanulok from Thailand. They finished match in just 58 minutes. Uroš Kovačević was the top scorer of Al-Alrabi with 9 points.
