Valerio Vermiglio was hired by UPCN San Juan Vóley as huge boost but leaves Argentinian volleyball champions after only two and a half months.

When they hired experienced Italian setter, a six-time consecutive champions of Argentine Men’s Volleyball Championship (Liga Argentina de Voleibol Banco Nación) thought they found a player who will make the difference on the court in their favor. But, ways of UPCN and Vermiglio have parted as „Somos Vóley“ posted on Twitter.

Somehow this outcome was expected because a two-time CEV European Championship gold medalist with Italian National Team almost did not play for UPCN at all (with the exception of 2016 FIVB Club World Championship).

Without Vermiglio at the start of the season in Argentina, the club had one of the worst losing streaks ever. They suffered defeat in five games (2 in the national Cup and three in the national championship) before beating River Plate, five days ago.

UPCN already found a replacement for Vermiglio. It is Martín Kingard from Division 2 team Sarmiento de Chaco.
