It was one of the most epic World League finals in the history of this competition. Brazil and Serbia & Montenegro played a spectacular match that was finished after a thrilling tie-break. The final score in the tie-break was 31:29 for Brazil, which therefore clinched the gold.
These two teams faced each other 3 times in the World League Finals and Brazil won all 3 games! As we have already written, in 2003 (Madrid) Brazil defeated Serbia and Montenegro by 3-2, in 2005 (Belgrade) Brazil triumphed by 3-1, while in 2009 (Belgrade), Brazil outplayed Serbia by 3-2.
