Another sad day for volleyball. Murilo Endres decided to retire from the national team at the age of 35. He could not hold his tears while announcing this decision to Brazilian journalists…
“I have not spoken to my parents yet. I spoke to Jaqueline, Gustavo sent me a message, as well as many friends and fans. I just have to thank them all. It is over. It is very difficult for me at the moment, but I am prould of representing my country for so long. I hope that I will continue to play volleyball and to show my son what a beautiful game this is,” said Murilo.
Murilo’s dream was to play at the Olympic Games in Rio, however the injury of the left calf stopped him from doing that. He missed most of the World League 2016 edition, so head coach Bernardo Rezende had no other option but to leave him out of the Olympic roster.
In his rich national team career, Murilo Endres won two silver medals at the Olympic Games (2008 and 2012), two gold medals (2006 and 2010) and one silver (2014) at the World Championships, 6 World League titles…
Brazil will not be the same without him…

Sad indeed. Was expecting to see him in Rio one last time. Legend.
