The top-seed Sada Cruzeiro swept No.8 Lebes Canoas in Game 1 of the best-of-three 2017/18 Superliga playoff quarterfinals by a 3-0, having trouble to prevail only in the second set, partially 25-19, 26-24, 25-15.

Evandro Guerra topped Cruzeiro with 13 points. Isac Santos served 5 aces, while Filipe Ferraz made 80% reception (10 digs, 40% excellent).

The shape of No.2 Sesc-RJ has been going downhill in March as they suffered three straight defeats at the end of the regular season. Game 1 of the playoff quarterfinals against No.7 Vôlei Renata (Campinas) proved the claim. But, unlike the finish of the regular season, Sesc woke up on time to avoid drama – 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 13-25, 25-17) and took the lead in the series.

Paulo Silva scored 15 points for Sesc, while Tiago Barth served 4 aces. Leandro Vissotto delivered 14 points for Campinas. Diogo Silva contributed with 4 aces, and Thiago Rey with 4 kill blocks.
