In Round 2 of Pool B in Szczecin, Italy swept Slovakia in straight sets, partially 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
The Italian fans probably expected from their head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini to make some changes in the composition that lost to Germany in the tournament’s opening but he decided to give the second chance to all the players from the lineup which he introduced in that match.
Vettori, Giannelli, Mazzone, Lanza, Piano, Antonov and libero Colaci did not question Italy‘s win in any moment of the encounter against Slovakia.
Filippo Lanza was the top scorer in the winning team with 15 points, making 4 of them from the service line. In Slovakia, Marcel Lux notched 9 points.
Italy now have 1-1 and 4 points in Pool B, while Slovakia reached 0-2 and have a slim chance to advance to the elimination stage.
Today’s schedule, Round 2:
