The opening defeat which they suffered to Germany forces Gianlorenzo Blengini‘s side to play the EuroVolley full power, especially if they want to skip the first elimination stage, the 8th Final, and go directly to the quarter-finals. Still, for this, Italy do not only need to beat the Czech Republic in the last round but also to see German National Team losing their last round game versus Slovakia.
„We won this match and this places us in a very good position in Pool B. But we will not rest on our laurels. The Czechs play well, and it will not be an easy match tomorrow. We hope that we will be playing again in front of such an incredible audience as we did today. We love the Polish fans! They give us a lot of support,“ Matteo Piano, the middle blocker of Italy, said after the match against Slovakia.
His teammate Luca Spirito added that there are no better or worse teams as all came to the European Championship to win so his team will have to play every match on a high level.
