Brazil and China will play in the semifinal of the VNL but today’s match decided which team will go from the top position. That is Brazil.

Tandara Alves Caixeta once again was the leader of the team with 19 points (16 att, 1 bl and 2 ac) followed by Gabriela Braga Guimaraes 14 points and Adenizia Da Silva 10 points.

China were never really able to put their opponents under sustained pressure, despite another stellar performance from captain Zhu Ting, who contributed 13 points while middle blocker Xinyue Yuan was also strong with 8 points.

Brazilian captain Roberta da Silva Ratzke after the match said: “I am happy about the game. I am happy about the attitude of the team today. We found our tempo even when we knew it was going to be a tough game. We went to the court to do our best. Today’s experience was great and now we have to rest for a while so we can play against Turkey tomorrow.”

The home captain Zhu Ting said: “I want to congratulate Brazil for winning this match. We did not do our best today. We wasted some important changes so that is something that we need to improve tomorrow.”

Semifinals

Brazil – Turkey 15:00 local time (09:00 CET)

USA – China 19:45 lt (13:45 CET)
