Serbia

Serbia

World League Council decided that the 28th edition of the prestigious annual tournament will be played in the same format as this year’s. It means that each of 12 national teams (36 overall) from Group 1 and Group 2 will play three weekends (nine games) while 12 teams from Group 3 will play two weekends (six games).

Besides the hosts, five best ranked teams from Group 1 pool stage will take part at the Final Six. As for Groups 2 and 3, three best ranked teams from pool stage plus the hosts will play the Final Four. The hosts of all three final tournaments will be deterimned subsequently.

In the 2017 World League, just like at 2016 Rio Olympics, there will be no technical time-outs because FIVB Council concluded that both volleyball tournaments in Rio were successful without them.
