According to life.ru, Alekno will not remain head coach of Russia men’s volleyball team! This source writes that the coach thanked everyone in the Russian Volleyball Federation for the opportunity they gave him, but that he cannot continue with his job due to health reasons and because he wants to focus on working in Zenit Kazan.
Also, life.ru adds that the Russian Volleyball Federation will officially announce parting ways with Alekno in November.
Alekno took over Russia men’s national team last summer, while he managed to lead the team to the Olympic Games 2016 by winning the European Olympic Qualifier. However, Russia lost the semifinals clash against Brazil in Rio, while then they lost the medal after the USA made a stunning comeback in the 3rd place match.
