Galata – Fener
It seems that not even volleyball can get away from these kind of things… The big Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce got interrupted for 20 minutes, due to abusive chants which came from Galatasaray fans. At that moment, Fenerbahce were ahead by 2-0 and 8:7 in the third set, when the home fans started with vulgar insults.
The referee decided to suspend the match for a while, but both teams returned on court after about 20 minutes and continued to play. Eventually, Fenerbahce won the third set as well and closed the game with a straight sets victory!
Kim Yeon-Koung was the top scorer in the winning team with 23 points, while Brankica Mihajlović added 12. On the other side, Nadia Centoni made 15 points for Galatasaray.
