Brazilian stars Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) and Ana Patricia Ramos, along with Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, emerged as champions in the World Beach Pro Tour Joao Pessoa Elite16. They secured the women’s and men’s trophies, respectively.
In the women’s category, another Brazilian team, Barbara Seixas and Carol Solberg, along with China’s Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi, earned their spots on the podium. The men’s competition saw Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava, and the Netherlands’ Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot, securing the second and third places.
The highlight was the women’s final, a nail-biting all-Brazilian showdown. Despite losing the first set, Ana Patricia and Duda made a remarkable comeback against Carol and Barbara, ultimately winning 2-1 (29-31, 21-16, 15-11). This victory marked their seventh Beach Pro Tour gold.
In the bronze medal match, Xue and Xia faced a tough challenge from the American duo of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss. The match extended to three sets, with the Chinese pair finally claiming a 2-1 (22-20, 20-22, 15-12) victory.
The men’s matches, on the other hand, were less contested. Ahman and Hellvig showcased their dominance in the final against Nicolai and Cottafava, achieving a straightforward 2-0 (21-11, 21-18) victory.
The third-place match saw Boermans and De Groot defeating Brazilians Andre Stein and George Wanderley with a 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) score, much to the disappointment of the local fans.
