The 2024 Queen & King of the Court Finals in Doha delivered unforgettable moments, including a historic first: three Kings sharing the crown. Dutch duo Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot were leading the men’s final when Boermans suffered a groin injury and couldn’t continue. In an incredible twist, Steven van de Velde stepped in at the last minute. Despite having been playing a casual game nearby, Van de Velde quickly found his rhythm, teaming up with De Groot to secure the gold.
The 2023 champions, Clemens Wickler and Nils Ehlers from Germany, claimed silver after a spirited effort, while France’s Calvin Aye and Rémi Bassereau took bronze.
On the women’s side, France’s Lézana Placette and Germany’s Sandra Ittlinger teamed up for the first time in Doha and made it count. Normally rivals, the friends showed incredible chemistry, defeating Germany’s Cinja Tillmann and Svenja Müller as well as Dutch stars Katja Stam and Wies Bekhuis in a thrilling final. This marked Placette’s first-ever crown and Ittlinger’s second, following her 2021 victory.
